Care should be taken when using oxalic acid, however, as it is poisonous. Always be sure to wear rubber gloves when handling either type of bleach and use it in a well-ventilated area (Fig. 45). The traditional method of applying bleach was with a grass brush but we find that a piece of towelling is ideal and has the advantage that it can be disposed of carefully after use. Do not work out of metal containers as bleach will rot them - glass or stout plastic is fine. Do not use the bleach container for any other substance.

It has the advantage of being relatively cheap. g. if the lid has been left off) the relevant solvent can be stirred in to soften it and it is ready for use again. With QuirkO water is added to soften it. Note that plastic filler is not suitable for use on corners or edges as it would knock out easily, and is best applied with a blunt penknife (Fig. 39).
