Es besteht allerdings Unklarkeit darüber, ab welcher Anzahl gemeinsamer Merkmale eine »erhöhte Gemeinsamkeit« vorliegen soll. Zudem gibt es zwischenzeitlich mehrere Untersuchungen, die eine erhöhte Anzahl gemeinsamer HLA-Merkmale bei Paaren mit habituellen Aborten nicht nachweisen konnten.
Bei einer Implantation am Tag 10 p. o. und 11 p. o. kam es bereits zu einem signifikanten Anstieg der Frühabortrate auf 26% bzw. 52%. Die nach dem Tag 11 p. o. erfolgten Implantationen endeten schließlich zu 82% in einer Frühfehlgeburt (Wilcox et al. 1999). Von Bedeutung für die Klinik ist die Unterscheidung zwischen sporadischen Aborten und dem Vorliegen eines habituellen Abortgeschehens, das bei 3 aufeinanderfolgenden Fehlgeburten vorliegt. –14. SSW und in Spätaborte ab der 14. SSW sinnvoll.
