The embouchure plate measures 10.2 X 11.8 mm and is stamped with the makers initials. This stands for 'low pitch', meaning that they are tuned to A = 440 Hz and are therefore fully compatible with modern instruments. Keep this in mind when attempting to date your instrument. The addition of a strap ring gives players the option to distribute the weight of the instrument and relieve some of the strain of holding the instrument. It comes with a hard rubber barrel, and the rest of the instrument is plastic.

The reed is attached to the mouthpiece by the ligature; and the top half-inch or so of this assembly is held in the player’s mouth. (German clarinetists often wind a string around the mouthpiece and reed instead of using a ligature.) The formation of the mouth around the mouthpiece and reed is called the embouchure. You will also find accessories like reeds, mouthpieces, training aids, bags and cases. Main Knob has tape o... … Click Images to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Click to...

Top and bottom joints and bell are stamped with the makers name and logo. Vocalists, especially announcers and voice-over people, use this effect to their advantage, moving in close to the mic to get that big, rich, gravelly sound. Superior intonation is provided by refined tone hole dimensions and their placement. Tula Ginnini's book "The Great Flute Makers of France" depicts similar instruments on page 88. We test all of our used gear to our high company standards and offer a 7 day return policy.

Double reed instruments have a throatier timbre that was perhaps best described by American playwright Tony Kushner as what a duck would sound like if a duck were a songbird. Overhauled one a couple years back and it was a lovely player... A rare breed of these obnoxious creatures are "female drummers". This one's clean, a very good example for $1395. Woodwind sections do expand to woods in 3s (Wagner, John Williams) and 4s (Mahler).

This one is a superb player, virtually identical to Louis Lot #4566 that I've reserved for my own use and have played for the past decade. Be sure to apply an even coat on all cork joints to provide protection and extend cork life. So the longest sine wave that fits into the open pipe is twice as long as the pipe. Very good nickel plate to the keywork, no cracks to the wood, new mouthpiece, new case, new pads and corks from our shop in Wichita, no dents or damage to the neck or bell.

Some manufacturers of reeds use different hardness numbering systems. We believe our flute was built before 1850. Superb intonation, easy to get the low notes, very good original case. Sometimes the bell is curved shaped like on the clarinet and the saxophone and other times it is straight like on the flute. Comes with a very good original Lifton-USA case. Everything is clean and straight; with ALL new pads and corks.

The flute was constructed with inline G, and soldered tone-holes. Its suitable for Dixieland, Big Band playing, classical saxophone quartet, Kenny-G imitations or whatever you want to do with it. The switch into the octave when opening the overblowing hole is the same not only for recorders, but all other wood wind instruments like saxophones, bassoons oboes. This is a great instrument for a beginner. However, all modern clarinets have similar components. Hard rubber, such as ebonite, has been used for clarinets since the 1860s, although few modern clarinets are made of it.

Of these, many are rare or obsolete, and music written for them is usually played on the common types. Woodwinds in general, and the saxophone and oboe in particular sound best in lively, reflective spaces, so unless your recording space of choice is exceptionally and unattractively boomy minimal sound damping is advisable.
